Thank you Sunnyvale! Election Day has come and gone, and the voters of our great city have spoken. I wanted to say thank you to everyone for all of your support and friendship during my campaign for Sunnyvale City Council, Seat #5. I am truly humbled to have been elected to City Council and I am honored to be able to continue my public service to the people of Sunnyvale. Whether you voted for me, or for my opponent, I am here to serve and I will do my best to justify your faith in me.
It will be an honor to hold the same seat on the City Council as these great Sunnyvale leaders who have preceded me on Seat #5: Lynn Briody (1980-1988), Barbara Waldman (1988-1996), Manuel Valerio (1996-2004) and Otto Lee (2004-2012).
As your Councilmember, I will be responsive to the community. You can reach out and contact me to share your ideas and concerns. Call me at (650) 455-1163. Or, email me at email@example.com.
I wanted to take a moment to thank Patrick Meyering for his service on City Council for the past five years.
I also wanted to thank all of my many supporters who helped me during the campaign. There were so many of you who helped behind the scenes on the campaign, and who helped me with your contributions of time, effort and money. Most of all, I wanted to thank my wife Sami for her patience, encouragement and hard work supporting the campaign. To all of my supporters and to my family: I couldn’t have done it without you.
Thank you, once again!

Thank you for coming to my website! I am honored that you are interested in learning more about my campaign for Sunnyvale City Council, Seat #5, in the November 8, 2016 election.
I am running for City Council to support our quality of life. Join with me so we can focus on our extraordinary City’s future.
I will use my experience in business and government leadership to bring a much needed approach of civility and collaboration to our City Council. I have served since 2012 on the Sunnyvale Planning Commission where I was selected three times by my colleagues to serve as Chairperson. In 2011, I left a successful high-tech career to commit to public service. That dedication is what motivated me in my youth to enlist in the U.S. Navy. I earned an MBA from Santa Clara University and graduated from Leadership Sunnyvale. Now, my wife and I are raising our children in Sunnyvale, my home since 2000.
Sunnyvale is a great place to live, work, and do business. I am committed to our vision of a vibrant downtown; a balanced approach to growth, housing and traffic; the City’s Climate Action Plan; smart infrastructure; and fiscal responsibility.
By working together, we can make Sunnyvale thrive today and into the future. I want to keep Sunnyvale great, for my family and for yours.
I am supported by many Sunnyvale residents, including County Assessor Larry Stone, former County Supervisor Dianne McKenna, Mayor Glenn Hendricks, Vice Mayor Gustav Larsson, and Councilmembers Jim Davis and Jim Griffith. On November 8, 2016, I ask you to vote Russ Melton for Sunnyvale City Council Seat #5 and watch me go to work for you.
